Support the Liberian Ministry!
We are overjoyed to report that the Kingdom of God is flourishing in Liberia and the ministries are producing abundant fruit. Faith Community has the unique blessing to be involved in several different projects. Please read on to see how God is working through us and in spite of us to be glorified.
Dorcas Project - 30 women were given a micro loan of $200 in the fall of 2012 to begin or expand a business. This loan will be paid back with interest within 1 year so that, others may receive a loan for business. The women attend several workshops prior to disbursement and are taught things such as business from a Biblical perpsective, Godly stewardship, savings, business plans and future expansion of business. Since going into business the women can afford tuition, food and give offerings to the church. We continue to pray for each woman as God is glorified through her vocation and every detail in life.
Agricultural Project - By God's grace and the blessings of Faith Community's Alternative Gifts 2013, the, ELCL, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Liberia has a Poultry Program in place that will sustain the ELCL and provide jobs for members of the church body and citizens of the farm community. The hope is that gradually the ELCL will be financially independent to sustain the leadership, pastors and members of the church. The future goal of this program is to expand the livestock to include goats and to suuply offshoot farms to individual congregations. We thank God for His provision.
Michael Hinden Medical Clinic - Our original connection point with the ELCL in Liberia is Salvation Lutheran Church in the Omega Community with a population of about 3,000. God has richly blessed this relationship with much love, joy and faith but also through such tangible things as a school, orphanage and nearly completed health clinic. The building, although only 75% completed, is already being used as a mini-clinic. It also is home to 3 of the classes during the school day. Their are patients being seen 24-7 and many of the people in the community are hearing the Message as they come for treatment. Praise God for this wonderful opportunity!
Lay Leader Training - A huge obstacle to sharing the Gospel and growing The Church in Liberia is the lack of training for pastors. There are 13 ordained pastors and over 300 churches. God has given Faith the opportunity to be a blessing in this situation by providing lay leader seminars. We thank God that we have this opportunity to assist as many pastors do not even have Luther's Small Catechism much less a Bible.
