An acolyte is the young person that brings the light of God to worship. They assist with the worship service by lighting the candles on the altar and assisting with communion. An acolyte is a 3rd-7th grader who has a servant heart and a desire to serve with reverance during worship. Acolyte training takes about 20 minutes. We serve the congregation by preparing the church altar and chancel area according to the seasons of the church. Each week a different team of volunteers prepares communion for designated services. This is a ministry that happens behind the scenes, yet is a vital part of worship. Communion was directed by Christ, we help to make it happen!

What we do?

Prepare individual cup trays, common cups, and brass challis by filling with wine.
Prepare brass trays and brass cup with wafers.
Assist communion distributors by passing filled trays as they empty.
Be available to clean-up and put away communion items and fill candles with oil after the services.

We serve the congregation by assisting the pastors in dispensing communion during the worship services. Communion is served at all Sunday worship services. Any active member of Faith Community is welcome to participate as a servant in distributing communion. If you would like to serve in this special way please contact Marlin at marlinmm@cox.net.

Welcome people and hand out the Faith at Work
Assist people needing a prayer room, nursery, children's church, or hearing assistance.
Collect the offering.
Collect the communication cards.
During communion the ushers direct the congregation to receive communion. The ushers inform the Pastor of anyone who is unable to get to the altar for communion so that he may administer communion to them at their seat.
After worship service the ushers gather material from pews and sort remaining bulletins for following services. They check restrooms and secure all doors.

Readers share the word of God during the worship services. They stand at the altar podium and read a brief pre-determined selection of scripture to share. They are provided a copy of the reading a few days prior via email so that they can get comfortable with the passages chosen. Readers generally serve one service per month.

This is the perfect service opportunity for those that want to serve without a major time committment.

Our greeters and ushers serve as "God's PR
