Faith Lutheran Academy incorporates technology into every classroom and all aspects of our curriculum. Students are exposed to a variety of experiences in grades K-5. Our campus uses MAC laptops for 5 graders, Dell laptops in grades 3 and 4 and Dell Computers in grades K-3. We have high-speed wireless Internet access throughout the campus.
Students begin with programs suited to their level in Kindergarten through 1st grade. By 2nd grade, we are teaching keyboarding skills and use of word processing software programs. Grades 3-5 are on to more advanced projects such as googledocs, and advanced word processing and presentation skills.
We have one computer lab for grades K-3 and 2 COWS (computers on wheels - 25 laptops each) for grades 3, 4 and 5. Classrooms K-3 have two computers in each of their classrooms for student access. All classrooms have 36 inch TV screens for the teachers' use in presenting lessons, streaming video, and much more. In addition our Resource Room (Library) has 3 student computers and a 44 inch TV screen.
Grades K-3 have class in the computer lab in addition to a regularly scheduled time to use this room each week. They learn typing skills, use word processing programs, research on the Internet, and use a variety of curriculum programs that are on our school network including software based and web-based. Grades 3,4 and 5 use the laptops in their classrooms throughout the day, and they have a regularly scheduled computer class time once a week.
